HARTMANN TRESORE AG is a modern company that is proud to look back on a long history of traditional craftsmanship. Founded around 150 years ago as the Hartmann forge and wheelwright’s workshop, Christoph Hartmann and Elvira Weidemann later went on to specialise in safes back in 1983. Over the years, we have grown into one of the industry’s major players, currently boasting six branches in Germany and further locations in France, Italy, Switzerland, Poland and the United Arab Emirates.
Just as over 200,000 satisfied customers across Europe have discovered to date, our combination of innovative ideas and specialist expertise is something you can truly rely on! Our story
from 1983 to present day
Ever since HARTMANN TRESORE first came into being back in the 1980s, our company has never once stopped developing, with new product ranges and customer groups being added all the time. Today, our catalogue includes premium-quality safes of all kinds for private and commercial customers alike. We also have a strong focus on branch-specific security solutions, including those for trade, industry, hotel and gastronomy, government and public institutions, clinics and care facilities, and the automotive industry, as well as for chain stores from various sectors. We’ve put together a few milestones of our company development here for you to enjoy:
1983
The company HARTMANN specialises in safes and gun safes. These are primarily showcased to customers at trade fairs and exhibitions.
1990
Christoph Hartmann and Elvira Weidemann set up HARTMANN TRESORE AG as we know it today, which is still a family-owned company.
1993
The company acquires its first independent premises in Paderborn. In addition to employee offices and the warehouse, it also has its own safe exhibition, allowing customers to see the safes and gun safes for themselves for the very first time.
1994
Just a year later, HARTMANN TRESORE starts to expand both domestically and internationally: The first German subsidiary opens in Düsseldorf, and HARTMANN TRESORE France launches in Paris.
1997
The second HARTMANN subsidiary opens in Cologne.
1998
HARTMANN TRESORE Italia launches in Milan.
2000
The third German subsidiary opens on Kurfürstendamm, Berlin’s main shopping hub. This gives HARTMANN TRESORE a foothold within the capital for the turn of the millennium!
2002
HARTMANN takes on Eastern Europe: HARTMANN TRESORE Polska is founded in the Polish capital of Warsaw. A further branch opens in the same year in the city of Hamburg on the River Elbe.
2009
HARTMANN TRESORE Schweiz AG opens its doors in Winterthur, Switzerland.
2010
HARTMANN TRESORE goes Middle East: The first HARTMANN subsidiary outside of Europe opens in Dubai.
2011
February 2011 sees our employees move out of what had become the cramped old office into the new headquarters. This impressive new build in Paderborn’s Mönkeloh business district not only offers plenty of space for the team, but also a huge safe exhibition for customers. What’s more, the new central warehouse offers space for several thousand safes, meaning a wide range of products can now be delivered at short notice ex stock.
2014
Dubai is where our new “Signature Safes by HARTMANN” brand for exclusive, custom-made, designer and high-gloss safes is launched for the first time and showcased to a wider audience at the “BaselWorld” watch and jewellery show.
2015
Germany’s sixth subsidiary opens in Munich. This means HARTMANN TRESORE can now also offer a local presence to customers in southern Germany and Austria, which has been very well received.
Interesting facts & offers
The official accreditation body VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH based in Cologne tests and certifies our secure storage units according to the latest Euro standards.
The ECB (European Certification Body) is a neutral and independent certification body of the European Security Systems Association e.V. (ESSA) with its registered office in Frankfurt am Main.
The network "Zuhause sicher" (safe at home) is a non-profit association based in Münster, which was founded by the police with the aim of working to improve crime prevention. The association is supported by authorities, companies and insurance companies, among others.
